Helping farmers bring land back into use

Bhavitha BEST’s programme supports tribal farmers in Addateegala and Y. Ramavaram Mandals. Its work covers 120.05 acres belonging to 42 farming families, helping communities turn degraded plots into land that can support their livelihoods.

Farmers work together to clear unwanted growth using traditional tools. Agroforestry, horticulture and pasture development form part of the approach to improving the land.

Working together for lasting change

Small farmers organize into groups to share the work of clearing and developing their plots. The programme connects practical land management with local knowledge, with the aim of improving soil, retaining water and expanding opportunities to grow crops, fodder and fuelwood.

Community involvement keeps the work connected to farmers’ needs and supports a more dependable source of income close to home.
